Biography

Since appearing on The Voice in 2014, Wallen's rise to country's upper echelons has been meteoric - but one that has not been without its fair share of controversies, which have at times threatened to transform this unprecedented ascent into a tumultuous collision course.

After being voted out of popular tv talent show during the playoffs, Wallen released his Stand Alone EP, which paved the way for a recording contract with Big Loud Records.

Wallen released his debut album, If I Know Me, in 2018. Spawning hits such as ‘Chasin' You’, ‘Whiskey Glasses’ and the rowdy, party-starting Florida Georgia Line collaboration, ‘Up Down’, If I Know Me helped to solidify Wallen's mercurial blending of lyrical, lovelorn balladry with his playful, down-home charm.

Wallen's potential was actualised in January 2021 when he released Dangerous: The Double Album. Totalling 30 songs, the project capitalised on Wallen's songwriting prowess, alongside frequent collaborators such as HARDY, Ernest and Ben Burgess. Numerous songs from the album have since gone multi-platinum, such as ‘More Than My Hometown’, ‘Wasted On You’, ‘7 Summers’ and ‘Sand In My Boots’.

Dangerous: The Double Album went on to break a number of records, becoming the longest-running Top 10 album on the Billboard 200 since the chart began. The project has also spent more time at No.1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart than any any other album in the chart's history.

In 2022, Morgan Wallen won the ACM Award for Album of the Year, which built on the success of his 2021 Billboard Music Awards for Top Country Artist and Top Country Album.

That year, Wallen wrapped up his country-spanning Dangerous tour, during the course of which the Tennessee hitmaker played to over 800,000 fans. As he closed out his final show, his 2022 single, ‘You Proof’, was confirmed as his seventh No.1 at country radio.

On March 3 2023, Morgan Wallen released his new album, One Thing At A Time. Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the album maintained that position for 19 non-consecutive weeks—the longest run for a country album in chart history.

The album also produced seven No. 1 singles on country radio and became Spotify’s most-streamed album of 2023. By September 2024, it was certified 7× Platinum by the RIAA, signifying over 7 million units sold.

The standout single 'Last Night' spent 16 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of the decade’s most successful tracks. It was also honored as Song of the Year at the 2024 BMI Country Awards.

Wallen's award wins certainly did not end there. Between 2023 - 2024, the singer collected 11 Billboard Music Awards, four People's Choice Country Awards and the big one, Entertainer of the Year for 2024 at the Country Music Association Award, despite not attending the event.

One Thing At A Time spawned the juggernaut that was the One Night At A Time Tour.

Drawing over 3.1 million fans across 87 shows in US, Canada, Europe and the UK, the run officially became the highest selling country tour in history.

Notably, Wallen's two-night stint at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville attracted 156,000 attendees, also breaking the venue's attendance record.

Wallen's fourth studio album, I'm the Problem, was release on May 16, 2025. The 37-track album includes collaborations with Post Malone, Eric Church, HARDY, ERNEST and Tate McRae.

The album has been streamed over 4.5 billion times on Spotify alone, and holds the record for debut sales for a country album in its first week, shifting 493,000 units.

As of June 2026, it has been certified 4x platinum by the RIAA.
